Doshas in Ayurveda are the key concepts to know a body structure. There are three doshas vata, kapha and pitta.
Vata Dosha - Vata Dosha is combination of air and space. To keep the diseases like anxiety, asthma, heart disease, skin problems and rheumatoid arthritis at bay you need to keep your vata dosha in balance. It looks after the cell division in a human body. It controls mind, breathing, blood flow, heart function and helps to gid rid of waste though intestines. Few causes of vata dosha imbalance are fear, grief, eating again too soon after a meal and staying up too late at night.
Haritaki ensures healthy movement of Vata in the gut.
Pitta Dosha -Pitta Dosha is combination of fire and water. Diseases which can occur due to imbalance of pitta dosha are high blood pressure, heart disease, crohn's disease, infections. This energy controls digestion, metabolism ( how good your body can break down food and certain hormones that are linked to appetite). Pitta dosha imbalance is caused from sour, spicy foods and too much exposure in sun.
Amalaki facilitates healthy secretion of pitta in the gut.
Kapha Dosha - Kapha Dosha is mixture of two elements, which are water and earth. Severe diseases like breathing disorders, asthma, cancer, diabetes, nausea after eating and obesity. It looks upon muscle growth, body strength and ability, weight and immune system. Kapha dosha imbalance is caused due to eating too many sweet foods, eating or drinking things that contain too much salt and water, sleeping during the day.

Herbal Remedies at home -
1) Ayurveda remedies of gas and bloating -
Cumin - The active constituents present in cumin are known to have carminative and anti-flatulent properties, which helps in preventing and relieving excessive intestinal gas.
Coriander - The main components like linalool and thymol present in coriander stimulates digestive enzymes and promote digestion and reduces the risk of bloating.
Fennel - The active component lepicol present in the fennel seeds promote bowel movement and aids in treating indigestion.
Black Pepper - This herb promote digestion and prevent trapping of gas in the stomach.
Ginger - The active constituent like gingerols and shogoal present in fresh ginger improves the activity of gastrointestinal tract, promotes digestion, and treats bloating.
Clove - The essential oils present in the clove stimulate production of digestive enzyme and promote digestion.
Turmeric - Active constituents like curcuminoids present in turmeric stimulates digestion and promote bowel movement.
Improper eating and unhealthy eating habits are the most common reasons behind bloating.Modifications in eating patterns and following a healthy diet with regular exercise is the simplest and most effective way to reduce bloating.
How to use the above ingredients -
a. Toast 1 tsp fennel seeds and mix in 1 cup of boiled water.
b. Add a few pieces of fresh ginger, a pinch of hing (asafetida), and dash of rock salt to the boiled water.
c. Sip this slowly after your meal.
d. Mix turmeric with luke warm water and honey to have it as a first drink after waking up to improve digestion and reduce inflammation.
e. Mix 1 teaspoon of fennel or ginger or cumin or black pepper or clove with water and let it rest for 6-7 hours and drink it before you go to bed or first thing in the morning.
f. Consume a drink made with ghee, salt, and hot water. Ghee helps lubricate the inside of the intestines and salt removes bacteria. Ghee contains butyrate acid, a fatty acid with anti-inflammatory effects that may help with digestion.
Home recipe for constipation -
a. Mix 1 tsp fresh ghee and 1/2 tsp salt into 1 1/4 cup hot water.
b. Stir well.
c. Sit and sip this drink slowly. Should be consumed an hour after dinner.
Home recipe for acid reflux -
a. Combine 1/4 cup plain yogurt with 3/4 cup water (or double this, keeping same ratio).
b. Mix well.
c. Add 1 tsp rock salt, pinch of roasted jeera (cumin) powder, a bit of grated ginger, and fresh coriander leaves.
Home recipe for diarrhea -
a. Grate 1 inch of ginger and add to 1 1/4 cup water.
b. Boil with a little aniseed. After it’s boiled, add a pinch of turmeric powder.
c. Strain and drink.
Plain water is best, but you can also try buttermilk or fruit juice — especially apple and pomegranate — or ginger tea. Ginger stimulates digestion and is full of antioxidants that rehydrate the body and replenish lost nutrients.
“Bottle gourd (cabalash) is excellent for diarrhea. You can turn it into a soup, a curry made with tomatoes, or a stew, and eat it with rice,”. It has a lot of fiber and water content, and is easy to digest, low in calories and keep your gut and stomach happy.
