Two types of thyroid-
There are two thyroid hormones, one is T3 and another one is T4. Both are necessary for our body which helps in maintaining other functions of the body.
1. Hyper Thyroid - The word hyper always means its more in quantity. So, hyperthyroid means when your thyroid hormones are more in your body.
2. Hypo Thyroid - This means when your thyroid hormones are low.
An increase in TSH level means your thyroid gland is not able to produce enough hormones and so pituitary gland is secreting more hormones which results an increase in TSH level.
So, if you are seeing an increase in your TSH it is Hypothyroidism. Reverse of it is Hyperthyroidism where your body already has enough hormones and so your TSH is low than expected.
